You kick up the leaves and the magic is lost They tell me your blue skies fade to grey They tell me your passion's gone away And I don't need no carryin' on | ||||||||
Name : Samuel Class : Shaman -> Sage Country : Megam Age : Family : Elizabeth (mother, deceased), Frank (father, missing), Diane (sister, 30), James (brother, 27), Maybeth (sister, 24) Languages : Megam, Trade Birthdate : March 30 606 (Aries) Blood Type : AB Once upon a time, in the land of Megam, there was a woman named Elizabeth and a man named Frank. They fell passionately in love, got married, and had four beautiful children. They were a happy family. At least that's what Samuel would like to believe. But in reality, his father was an unreliable scumbag who was never there for his mother and finally ditched her when he found out she was pregnant with Samuel. All Samuel has of his father are stories, and through his mother's unpleasant memories, he's grown to hate the father he never knew. He couldn't ask his siblings for a different viewpoint of Frank as a father, either. They each had their own father; Elizabeth was apparently quite weak to seduction. Their fathers had stuck around after their births, at least long enough for them to know the men were no good. As a child, he was constantly getting into fights with the many children who taunted and jeered at him. The family was a disgrace, they said, what kind of woman had children with four different men? Elizabeth was a whore and everyone knew it. He grew to deeply loathe the word "bastard" on principle, due to constant reminders of what he and his siblings were. But life was still good. He loved his mother and older siblings very much, and despite being poor they made the best of what they had, always remembering to thank the dragons and count their blessings. Then one year ago, Elizabeth died of a sudden illness. Financially, this had no effect on them; all the children had jobs and Elizabeth had saved a decent amount of money, which she left them. But emotionally, the family began to crumble. The siblings put their work first and each other second, trying to avoid the pain of their mother's death. Samuel is barely at home anymore, instead working as many hours as he can at the Silver Scales, a local fishermens' haunt. He misses the way things used to be, and he knows his siblings feel the same way. But when none of them will even approach another, how do you admit it? Samuel is polite and charming, if not boisterous. He tries to be everyone's friend, and doesn't seem to care what people think of him. But one surefire way to piss him off is to say anything bad about his family, or even mention the word "bastard" in passing. If he even thinks anyone is about to badmouth his mother, he'll raise his voice in anger. After many years, people still look upon the family with disgust, there's simply nothing they can do to better themselves in society's eyes. Worse, Samuel knows his mother was a sinner. Even his love for his mother can't change what is. Samuel has a lot of pent-up anger inside him. He hates his father for walking out on them and generally being a dick to Elizabeth. He resents his mother for leaving them so suddenly and for being so weak, inviting all this contempt. He's sick and tired of himself and his siblings being so closed off, afraid to take the first step in healing the pain. As a child, Samuel had dreams of epic adventures; sailing the high seas, exploring the mysterious forests of Kilia, trekking the frozen wasteland of Korin. He still does, but these days he keeps them to himself. An adult shouldn't be longing for childish things, and he has a responsibility to his family. His greatest fear is being left alone. He's already distraught by Diane's plans to leave Megam and build a new life for herself, and has nightmares of waking up and finding James and Maybeth have gone as well. But he never speaks of these things, being clingy is hardly mature now, is it? Samuel also has a natural talent for light magic, which he is still perfecting to this day in the event something should threaten the family. Samuel is on the short side with a slight build; the prideful manner in which he carries himself is defintely an overcompensation for this. He has a deep tan from constantly being outdoors, dark golden eyes, and short red hair, the same shade as his late mother's. Samuel is played by ![]() |
